Meet the SensorFu team - Pekka Pirttiaho

Pekka Pirttiaho

What’s your role at the company, and what does a typical day look like for you?

I’m in charge of our sales and marketing, including building our international partner network. A typical day would spell nicely to “atypical” as my days vary a lot. The lowest common denominator for my daily schedule is a lot of people I’m meeting either online or face-to-face.

How did you get started in your career, and what led you to this company?

Probably most people don’t know that I also run my own family business of executive coaching and business consultancy alongside the work I do in my SensorFu hoodie. That was the starting point of my path with SensorFu in 2019. I was asked by the master of puppets in cyber, Ari Knuuti, if I would be interested in joining the ecosystem. Back in that time I was involved in various businesses starting with a C: Coaching, Cardiology, City planning and Cyber security. Once I scaled down my duties in other ventures and focused mainly in coaching and cybersec, I could promise to lead the sales efforts (and also use a significantly larger portion of my time) in SensorFu.

How would you describe SensorFu company culture and how does it differ from other places you’ve worked?

Haha, somewhat different than any other company I’ve worked with! What I love is the no-nonsense way of working, paired with a propellerhead attitude and hacker mindset.

What motivated you to get involved in cybersecurity?

The people and the bigger purpose behind the industry. My background has always been very people-oriented through sales, marketing, and building international partner networks. What interested me was seeing how cybersecurity affects almost every part of modern business and society today - it’s no longer just about technology. It’s about trust, business continuity, protecting critical infrastructure, and helping organizations operate safely in an increasingly connected world.

What’s a project or achievement you’re particularly proud of?

All of the deployments we’ve done are showcasing how simple it can be to ensure your environments are, and stay as they should be. We have a number of great examples shared in our blog that highlight the different use cases and environments where the solution has been applied. They show how organizations across various industries are using it to gain better confidence in their network configurations, often with surprisingly little effort to get started.

Where do you see the cybersecurity landscape heading by 2030? Are we winning the race against the “bad actors”?

I think cybersecurity will become even more connected to everyday business operations than it already is today. Companies are becoming more aware that cybersecurity is not just an IT issue anymore, especially in OT and critical infrastructure environments. It’s becoming a business priority.

Are we winning against the bad actors? I don’t think it’s really a race you fully win. Technology keeps evolving, and so do the threats. AI especially is changing things quickly for both defenders and attackers. What gives me confidence though is that companies are taking cybersecurity far more seriously now than they were even a few years ago. I see more organizations wanting to become proactive instead of only reacting after something happens.

From my side working in sales and building partner networks internationally, I spend a lot of time talking with people from different industries and countries. The common theme I see is that awareness is growing. Companies know they need better visibility and better ways to validate their security.

What’s your favorite way to “unplug” and recharge after a day of being constantly connected?

I read quite a bit. For the last 15 years, I’ve read my books from the screen but last year I shifted to OG paper format. Apart from books I enjoy walking and when travelling, I usually take some time to wander around in random navigation.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting out in this industry what would it be?

Stay curious. Cybersecurity is constantly evolving, and success in this field isn’t just about technical knowledge — it’s also about understanding people, communication, and how businesses operate.
