In cybersecurity, network segmentation is a foundational defense. We build virtual walls to isolate critical assets and Operational Technology (OT) environments. While an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is excellent at spotting bad actors once they are inside, it has a fundamental blind spot: it cannot tell you if your walls have actually failed until an attacker exploits them. SensorFu Beacon is designed not to replace your IDS, but to partner with it by turning reactive detection into proactive assurance.
Continuous network isolation testing provides visibility into your infrastructure, but sometimes it uncovers risks in unexpected places. Here is how a sudden surge of alerts led a security team to uncover a process failure in their supply chain.
During May and June of 2026, we invited our clients to share their experiences through our annual Customer Success Survey. Their feedback helps us understand what we’re doing well, where we can improve, and how we can continue delivering the service our clients expect.
In this week’s meet the team, we’re introducing @otto mäkinen our business development manager who works out of the South of France. Otto brings the team business development experience as well as technical knowledge. As SensorFu is looking at internationalization, Otto is supporting SensorFu in achieving this with an international background.
For our latest Team Spotlight, we sat down with Carrie, SensorFu’s Marketing Coordinator, to learn more about her unique career journey and experiences in cybersecurity. Originally from the United States, Carrie landed her first job at 8 years old shoveling snow for the neighbor for 50 cents. Since then, her career path has been anything but conventional. In this interview, she shares how she found her way to SensorFu, reflects on her journey into the industry, and offers her perspective on the changes she has witnessed in cybersecurity over the past few years from a non-technical viewpoint.
Security failures can emerge at any layer of the network, whether through firewall rules, routing configurations, VLAN segmentation, switch settings, cabling mistakes, or third-party integrations. As environments grow and change, being able to continuously verify that every control is still behaving as intended becomes a significant challenge.
In this week’s Meet the Team, we want to introduce Kai Jalonen. Kai is our Head of Sales and Business Development for the Asia-Pacific Region. With nearly three decades of experience in the technology and cybersecurity industry, he currently leads SensorFu’s Asia-Pacific operations, working closely with partners, customers, and industry stakeholders to strengthen cyber resilience throughout the region.
Many times our partners come to us with interesting stories from their clients about how they use Beacon in real-world environments. Recently, one partner shared a particularly unusual case involving DNS resolution activity being triggered by their client’s security inspection systems. While surprising at first, it quickly led us to a hypothesis about how this behavior could occur.
In this edition of Meet the Team, we’re excited to introduce Anu Laitila, our Customer Success Lead. With a unique blend of cybersecurity expertise and a strong background in marketing, sales, and business development, Anu plays a key role in helping our customers achieve success and get the most value from SensorFu.

It is important that companies identify the material that they need to protect to enable efficient protection. Complex isolated networks are not always as well isolated as you would think. The feasibility study (Toteutettavuustutkimus) conducted by the National Cyber Security Centre Finland (NCSC-FI) successfully tested and developed new, agile and scalable methods for improving these areas.
Water supply professionals and government planners have long been aware that urban water systems are a lucrative target for cyber adversaries. Water utilities are heavily using industrial control system (ICS) networks to control the physical processes essential to water treatment and distribution systems. Network isolation and segmentation are key protections that prevent unauthorized access to these SCADA/ICS systems and to keep hostile adversaries at bay.
We have delivered our SensorFu Beacons into a real production networks. To celebrate this milestone of real deployments, we are writing about the lessons learned and experiences gained while working with our early adopters.
